logoI absolutely love to entertain in the summer months. The winter this year in Rhode Island (and many other parts of the country) was absolutely horrific so I really relish my outdoor fun in the summer months. One way I do this is by inviting friends and family over for barbecues and have them enjoy our outdoor space. We are very lucky that we have a pretty nice sized backyard but until last year it went unfurnished. Just last year, I put in some furniture but it still looked barren to me. So, this year, I was completely excited to work with Pier 1 Imports to create a backyard “Outdoor Oasis” party for my family.

We held our #Pier1OutdoorParty on Memorial Day weekend. We were planning to have it the Friday right before Memorial Day but it rained heavily that day. It was no problem though, since we moved the date to Memorial Day Monday.  We had my immediate family over, including my mom/dad, my kids and husband, and our next door neighbors.  We just wanted to gather and enjoy the start of summer and the beautiful “Outdoor Oasis” I created by visiting Pier 1 Imports.DSC_0057

Before I tell how our party went, I thought I share some of my favorite finds at Pier 1 Imports and what I ended up buying for our party.  Pier 1 Imports has so many wonderful products and furniture to make your outside gorgeous this summer. Whether you like living alfresco, incorporating summer brights, or coastal views, you will find what you are looking for at Pier 1 Imports.  Pier 1 Imports outdoor furniture collection is special in that there is something from  everyone, from their  colorful Rock Point Benches and Neely Bistro Tables, to more neutral collections, such as the darker Echo Beach, Montclair collection in a lighter wood and traditional Santa Barbara. At Pier 1 Imports, it is easy to design a comfortable and inviting outdoor oasis that is sure to be enjoyed by family and friends all season long.

To be quite honest, I decorate my house very traditionally but I wanted to go bold this season when creating my “Outdoor Oasis”. I was tired of seeing all the neutral colors and wanted to jazz up my outdoor space. If you can’t make your outdoor space fun, then you are not going to want to entertain there. So, my very first purchase was the Trellis Melamine Dinnerware. I wanted to buy plastic dinnerware which I can use as serving pieces and plates. This complete set is perfect for the outside and is FUN! Look at these gorgeous blue colors and the beautiful designs. I knew this was definitely going on my shopping list. While I did not get the whole collection, I plan to go back to complete it before the 4th of July, which is our next big gathering.DSC_0042

Next, I ended up purchasing this beautiful candle motif that I ended up hanging near my flowers. I hate getting those annoying bugs all over me, so I added some citronella candles. The gorgeous colors and glasswork was a statement piece that I loved so much. When my mom came over, the very first remark was that she wanted the candle motif in her house. It is bold, fun, vivid, and perfect to hang in our outdoor living space.DSC_0035

Then when I was roaming the aisles at Pier 1 Imports, I found what I was looking for, for the past few years. I wanted to get a plastic drink dispenser for lemonade or water. I am afraid of putting glass on our table because we have a lot of little kids over. I was squealing in the store when I saw this because I was looking for it for so long. I knew this would be perfect for our “Outdoor Oasis”! Best of all, it holds 3 gallons of your favorite liquids so you never need to replenish.DSC_0055

DSC_0058I also ended up buying some outdoor candles and an ice cream scooper for the outdoor deserts we are going to have this summer. I honestly could have bought the whole store!  Some other pieces that caught my eye was this adorable frog fountain and these decor pillows.DSC_0044

IMG_5922IMG_5921On our #Pier1OutdoorParty, everything from Pier 1 Imports was set up outside and we ended up having a gorgeous day! My dad made some great burgers, hot dogs, and steaks. We accompanied the food with BBQ staples including potato salad and coleslaw. Everyone remarked how great my “Outdoor Oasis” turned out! I must say, I am really happy with how my outdoor space looks.     Your outdoor space looks so lively with the color! I love the idea of the outdoor lighting with those candles too. My fav was the Champagne Crisscross Lantern from the outdoor collection.
