One of my favorite family activities this summer has been watching the Olympics. Every night after we finish dinner, I turn on the Olympics for the family and we enjoy watching the enthusiasm routing for our fellow US team. A lot of times when we are watching, Hayley turns to me and asks if one day she could be an Olympian. My answer to her is, “You can do whatever you set your mind out to do.” Sure, this might not land her in the Olympics but it gives her the confidence to set out to achieve whatever goals she has in life. Procter and Gamble is also supporting the important roles of moms have in helping their children reach their full potential.

Procter and Gamble is inviting all of us to celebrate and send off three-time Olympian and World Champions Water Polo Player Brenda Villa, as she and her mom, Rosario, head off to the London 2012 Olympic Games. To help with her send off, Procter and Gamble is hosting a celebrating at Costco in her hometown of Montebello, CA.

As Brenda began to excel at water polo, her mom, a Mexican immigrant, encourages her to pursue her goals and dreams in a completely unfamiliar sport. You can check out Brenda’s journey and see her awe inspiring story.

 

When raising children, especially athletes, Rosario gives this advise to moms “Encourage them, support them and allow them to follow their dreams. Make sure you give them the confidence to follow their own values and beliefs and stay true to themselves.” I don’t Rosario could have said it better and I plan to use her advise with raising my children with what they want to do in life.

    Its a toss up between volleyball and gymnastics, I can’t decide which one of the 2 are my favorite.

    It used to be gymnastics but I getting more interested in the Track events. Especially the short track events like the 100M.

    I loved the Women’s beach volleyball. Probably because it is hard not to to cheer misty May and her teammate on.

    I usually mainly watch the gymnastics and swimming, but this year, I really got into the track events (and stories behind them), and the basketball. We have so many amazing athletes!

    I love gymnastics; swimming is great too! As far as winter sports, I’m a figure skating fan!

    I can’t say that I have ever followed it before, but Water Polo this year had me watching non-stop! Well, that and volleyball 🙂
