Some of my holiday gift suggestions! Jungle Speed, Growums, and the Rock n roll board game

If you are looking for some last minute gifts, look no further than these three awesome gift ideas. Even if you are done shopping, these three gifts would be a great hit for a birthday or a present!

1. Jungle Speed is a really awesome game for those 8 years and older. It came on the market in July and has been making a hit across homes in this country!  Jungle Speed is developed by Asmodee, the European leader in the distribution of board games and collectible card games. If you are looking for a great night of fun, exciting, and stimulating game play look no further than Jungle Speed.

What I love best about this game is the way you have to be quick in your thinking and fast in your reflexes. Each player must have concentration to beat out the other players. This game can be played with 2-10 players and can be played in 15 minutes. Trust me though, you will not want to stop. The game set includes: a cloth bag, 80 cards, one totem and one rule book. Jungle Speed features easy-to-learn play for fun family play!

How to play:

To start, each player receives a pile of cards.  They place them face down in front of them. A bright yellow totem is placed in the middle of the table.

..Each player, in turn, reveals the top card of their draw pile.  As players become more familiar with the symbols, they flip cards faster.  Players are looking for identical cards. Colors do not matter, only symbols.

..If two cards are identical, those players must make a grab for the totem.  The faster player then gets to dump off all their cards to their unfortunate adversary.

..To add to the difficulty, certain symbols on the cards are almost identical, which can trick a player into grabbing the totem by mistake.

..Just when players think they got it down, one of three special cards can temporarily change the rules and keep them on the edge.  Players may be called to make a grab at once, look for matching colors and not symbols, or even simultaneously flip card.

..The first person to get rid of all their cards wins the game.

This is really a FUN game! We thoroughly enjoyed playing it. For more information, check out Jungle Speed. You can also purchase an older version of  Jungle Speed at Amazon for $18.28. Have a great family night with Jungle Speed.

2.  Growums are a huge hit in my house. We are a gardening family and Hayley always wanted to get in the action.  Growums garden kits are actually seeds that kids plant to help them grow their own garden. Not only will kids love to grow their own gardens but it also promotes healthy eating!

I can promise you once kids know these are their seeds to grow, they will jump right into it! They will had fun planting their seeds and watching their food products grow.  Studies have also shown that children who grow their own vegetables with their parents, will more likely eat them. I can assure you this is true- Hayley won’t touch a vegetable but if she grows it herself, she eats it!!  Growums give kids the tools they need to start with specially themed garden kits that combine learning and fun. They also can long onto,, and they have a whole educational program online to see their garden grow from seeds to harvest. Children can register their garden and follow the colorful characters in a virtual garden world that shows them how to care for their vegetables.

Their are six kits that can be purchased to help start the harvesting process. They include the Herb Garden, Pizza Garden, Salad Garden, Stir-fry Garden, Taco Garden, and Ratatouille Garden.  Each garden kit features unique, magical coco or peat pellets that make planting and growing easy. I will tell you that the clean up is also extremely easy.

How to use the Growums:

..First, add water to a unique coco or peat pellets and put them in a shallow dish

..Once the pellet has magically expanded, kids then add three seeds to each and put the dish in the sun to wait for their delicious herbs and vegetables to start to grow.

..When the plants start to sprout, simply have the kids plant them in a sunny spot and water (a garden isn’t needed- any container will work.)

..The magic coco or peat pellets only absorb as much water as it needs- so there is never the fear of over-watering the garden

..In a few weeks, kids will be able to harvest fresh vegetables and herbs to create nutritious meals.

We had so much fun doing this! If you are interested in purchasing the awesome Growums, check out Growums store for local places that sell these awesome gardening kits. You can also find it on amazon for $9.99 per kit: Amazon.

3. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Board is awesome for any music lover! A few years back we visited the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and journeyed our way through this awesome museum to learn all about rock music and how it all started. Rock & Roll music has such as intricate part of our lives and learning about all the earliest musicians to the latest, was fascinating!

When we found out they came out with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Game Board, we were so excited! This game is truly phenomenal for all music fans out there. Even if your child is not yet into music, after playing this game, they will ask questions for years to come! Greg and I sat down to play this game and we really learned so much. Even begin avid music fans, the amount we didn’t know was astonishing. We ended up playing for 3 hours and had the BEST time! For those with children, 10 and up, they will love getting in on the action too.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame board games comes in the prettiest collectible tin and includes over 1,700 rock & roll trivia questions. The object of the game is to be inducted into the Game’s “Hall of Fame!” Start as a garage band and work your way to bigger and better venues by moving around the game board and answering trivia about the greatest people, events, recordings, and dates in Rock and Roll history.

Come test your pop culture and information you think you know about your favorite bands. Not only is the game extremely fun but you will learn more about pop music than you even knew existed. It was awesome!

Wow I'd love to try Jungle Speed and Growums. My kids were interested in my garden a little this year, but I think if it was something of their own they'd be more interested.

Jungle Speed sounds so fun and I've been looking for another game to get to play with my nephew so I can cut down his time using the Xbox! Also something fun for him to play with friends when they come over.
I wish I knew about this earlier so I could've added it to his Christmas gifts. But I'm going to get it anyway, maybe early next week. My best friend may be interested in Growums for her daughter, I'll share this post with her :) Thanks for the suggestions!

  11. Cindy Loo says

Jungle Speed is AMAZING! It's definitely not just a kid's game–all my friends in their mid-20s love playing it! The two-person version of the game is especially fun, and we've come up with new ways to play it to "handicap" the more advanced players so everyone can have fun. Definitely get one for a fun-loving group of people!

  12. Jen - Life With Levi says

The Growums look super cool! I recently tried a grow-your-own mushroom kit that was really neat. Now I want to try these, too.

  13. Joanna {Baby Gators Den} says
