Diono Radian rXT Convertible Car Seat Review + Giveaway!

*I worked with Diono on this post. All my opinions are my own and not swayed by outside sources.*

As a parent, there’s nothing more important to us than our children. From the day our little ones are born until the day they leave the nest (and onward) we make it our personal mission to care for their needs, emotional or otherwise. One aspect of being a parent that seemed a little more challenging was keeping my children safe. Safety isn’t just about teaching them to look both ways before crossing the street or not talking to strangers, there’s so much more to managing their safety than just the basics. A great example of this would be choosing a car seat.

BUCKLE YOUR CHILD IN THE CAR SEAT THE CORRECT WAY

BUCKLE YOUR CHILD IN THE CAR SEAT THE CORRECT WAY

When I had my firstborn, I thought picking a car seat would be a breeze. Boy, was I wrong! I thought it would be as easy as running to the store, picking one and installing it. Turns out, there are tons of different brands, models and sizes to choose from. It isn’t a simple matter of one size fits all and not every brand/model is made equally; some have far better safety ratings than others.

For example, the Radian rXT by Diono is, in my opinion, one of the best money can buy and you can rest assure that it’s also one of the safest on the market. Although it is a little on the pricey side, I can tell you that is it worth every penny if you’re looking for a multi-functional, safety seat for your precious cargo. This car seat provides little ones with unmatched safety from infancy to the booster stage. This means that instead of running out and upgrading your old car seat every time your kiddo moves up in weight or height, you can save big on the cost of a new seat by converting your Radian rXT to the needed stage for your child.

Available in 7 lovely colors, I was able to partner with Diono recently and was able to review their Radian rXT in Black Mist. Since receiving it, I’ve loved being able to put it to use. Although a little on the heavy side, 18lbs, I wouldn’t trade our new car seat for anything. It also utilizes a steel alloy frame and aluminum reinforced walls for safety and has a reinforced adjustable head support to help keep little heads from jostling in the event of an accident.Diono Car Seat

Additional benefits of the Radian rXT include but aren’t limited to:

  • Energy Absorbing EPS Foam
  • The ability to fit 3 seats across in most mid sized vehicles
  • Extended rear facing from 5-45lbs
  • Forward facing up to 80lbs
  • Booster accommodates children from 50-120lbs
  • 5 point safety harness
  • Angled cup holder
While the price tag might seem overwhelming to some parents, I can attest to the fact that it is indeed worth every penny. After all, you can’t put a price tag on the safety of your little ones and when you factor in the fact that your new Radian rXT has a 10 year life expectancy, you’ll rejoice in the fact that you’ll only need one car seat for your child instead of several as they hit each milestone in their growth.
If you’re interested in purchasing one of the Diono safety seats, then there are a few accessories that I would also recommend in conjunction with your new convertible seat.

The Car Seat Travel Bag: Trust me when I say you’ll want this one. I mentioned before that the car seat itself is heavy, 18lbs, and speaking from experience, trying to lug it around or switch to another car, can be tiring. It’s a beast! So, you’ll thank me when you purchase a Car Seat Travel bag to help transport your new car seat. It can be adjusted to be worn as a backpack or single strap to be used as a duffel bag option.

The Ultra Mat: Is ideal as an added layer of protection to your vehicles upholstery. The mat itself is full length so it covers your seat as well as the back of the seat as well and can be used while your car seat is either rear or forward facing. Car seatinstallation can bring about scratches in your upholstery, so I’d definitely recommend you invest in the Ultra Mat as well!

I love the weight range on this. It literally is the only carseat your child would ever need. Of course the extended rear facing is important to me. Because, when comes down to it, the most important thing for any carseat is how safe it keeps your child, and Diono always delivers on that.
