Participating in the 30 Day Floss Challenge! Dentist Approved!

*Sponsored with DenTek. All opinions are my own and not swayed by outside sources.*

As a dentist I know the importance of keeping up with your dental hygiene. I see dozens of patients over the course of my time spent in our office each week and have seen both exemplary & deplorable oral conditions. Personally, I know I might sound like a broken record but I take my work home with me and can be heard reminding my little ones to brush after meals, floss well and rinse with mouth wash, several times a day. I’ve always valued good oral hygiene so as a dentist I have to be firm with not only my patients but my kids as well.

As a child I remember how often my classmates missed morning classes for dental appointments and the shocking amount of cavities I saw over the course of a school year. With parents who were on top of my own dental hygiene, I’ve only had a couple of uncomfortable visits to the dentist over the years. What I didn’t realize until becoming a dentist myself, was how many sufferers of dental issues were shelling out megabucks simply because they were never taught the importance of things like flossing, brushing after EVERY meal and being seen for regular cleanings.

It makes sense though, how something as simple as a lack of knowledge can lead to severe dental issues later on in life. This is why I’m firm with kiddos and parents when they’re in my office. In a recent study done by DenTek, a worldwide leader in in Oral care products, 50% of participants said that their parents never taught them the importance of good oral habits, especially flossing! Knowing the importance of taking proper care of your mouth and its health, DenTek decided to launch their 30-Day Family Challenge to help families step up their flossing game in 2018.

Another study from DenTek revealed that most participants would be more likely to floss on a regular basis if an appealing incentive was offered. Taking this information in stride, DenTek teamed up with the Eh Bee Family to collaborate on a fun, informative rap video hosted on Youtube to help bring awareness to parents and children on the importance of flossing. The Youtube channel, Floss Like a Boss utilizes the video to invite viewers to participate in the 30-Day Family Floss Challenge for chances to win prizes like gift cards, movie tickets and a grand prize of $2,500. What better incentive to take better care of your mouth than cool prizes like those?!

To participate in the 30-Day Floss Challenge, hurry on over to the Floss Like a Boss Youtube Channel and check out their video to get tips on making dental care fun as well as learn how to get in on the challenge with your family! You can also pick up DenTek oral products such as dental picks, floss, brush cleaners, etc. at local retailers near you to help get the most out of the 30-Day Challenge!
