American Girl of the Year Gabriela McBride and a American Girl Giveaway!

Meet Gabriela McBride, your 2017 girl of the year. At the beginning of the year, American Girl releases the girl of the year and everyone goes crazy including my kiddos and every year they nail it. This year there is no exception because my kids are in love with Gabriela McBride!American Girl of the Year

Gabriela is a true talent who uses her passion for the arts—specifically spoken word poetry—to overcome personal obstacles and create positive change for her community. Gabriela launches with a beautiful 18-inch doll, plus several performance-inspired outfits, accessories, and toys.American Girl of the Year

And, to connect students with Gabriela’s inspiring message and to bring awareness to spoken word poetry, American Girl is partnering with Scholastic to create and distribute Express Yourself, a program for classrooms that empowers students to use the arts as a tool for self-expression. Available in March 2017, the classroom resources give teachers the tools to encourage students to find their creative voices, just in time for National Poetry Month in April.American Girl of the Year

My youngest is too young for anything but the Itty Baby but big sister Hayley is sharing because Taylor says, “Mommy .. The girl looks like me with curly hair”! Too cute! They both have wicked curly hair. Hayley is also so excited to add to her American Girl collection. This is girl #8 and we go at least 3 times a year to get all their hair done and have lunch with the girls.

Each night Hayley reads to Taylor with Gabriela on her lap and her new American Girl doll book that goes along with her. It a true sight to see.unnamed-3

    Willa is one of my favorites. However, I really enjoy the personalized option, because you can truly make any doll look just like you, or whoever you want to gift one to. So adorable every time.

    My daughter got her first doll for Christmas, Ashlynn. She is our favorite so far. We have started reading the Lea books, so she is my next favorite.

    I have a soft spot for the historical doll, Maryellen, mostly because that was my Grandma’s name. Plus, the doll is just cute.

    So many of the AG products are beautiful I really like their wlliewisher line up, so adorable. I love Willa. I like her story and my niece would flip over her.

    That’s a tough choice. I grew up with the “original” American girl dolls, and I had Samantha and (later) Addy, my sister had Felicity, and my cousins had a couple of the others. I don’t know much about the newer dolls but they look interesting. I’m glad to see more diversity. I’d like to learn about Kaya and Josephina and the rest.
    I guess if I have to pick one, I’ll go with Samantha because I related to her a bit as a kid.

    Rebecca Rubin. It’s awesome they added a doll with a Jewish backstory. My daughter loves to be able to relate to her celebrations.

    We love all of them, but our favorite is Julie Albright! As a mom of three young girls, I love that all these dolls show how girls can stand up for themselves, no matter what!

    Truly Me™ Doll #39 looks like my grand daughter. I only had sons and my husband family has only boys. My granddaughter is spoiled with tons of love and stuff.

    My favorite doll, ever was Cecile. I loved her story and how it broke stereotypes about African-Americans and the historic positions they could hold. It also broke stereotypes about rich people, Cecile was affluent, but she wasn’t a brat. She was sweet, generous, and headstrong, just like her family! I’m sorry they discontinued her as soon as they did 🙁

    My granddaughter and I absolute love Emerson and how she loves to encourage her friends to smile and dance. So cute!

    I think I like Addy the best. My grandma bought all of her great-grandchildren American Girl dolls when they turned 12, and that is what my daughter chose.

    My daughter said she likes Kaya and Josefina. Growing up I loved American Girl too. I had most of their books. I love how they keep adding characters to their collections.

    my daughters fav is the gabriella. she thinks that it looks just like she does. nind you she has blounde hair blue eyes lol but we help take care of a little girl who looks just like gabriella and thats why my daughter thinks she looks that way. i dont tell her any different i think its cute

    My favorite doll is Samantha! I received her for Christmas in about 1999 or 2000. As far as the new dolls, I love MaryEllen and Julie! I like Logan too… I’d love to buy him for my toddler son. Is that weird? The Wellie Wishers are precious also! Anyway, American Girl is great 🙂

    My favorite is Julie!! She’s my favorite because she reminds me so much of our 7 year old daughter.. down to the long blonde hair and loving basketball:) Our 7 year old is obsessed with American Girl Dolls, and her birthday is March 26th.. this would be the best birthday present ever!
