We are Participating in the Champions for Kids #SIMPLEgiving project this month!

*I participated in this program on behalf of Champions for Kids and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.”

#SIMPLEgivingIf you have never heard about Champions for Kids, it is a beyond a wonderful organization that is set up to help children out. Each month, they participate in Simple Service projects to give back to the community and help the youth generation out.  Champions for Kids makes it simple to give children in local communities the resources they need to thrive. The encourage people to donate to the Simple Service projects because they (as well as most of us, I would think) believe all children should have someone to care for them, a place to belong, and hope for tomorrow. The great thing about participating in these projects besides being rewarding, is helping can be as small as picking up a bag of cereal and donating to kids who might be starving.#SIMPLEgiving

It is really important as a mom that I get my kids involved with donating to children who might not have what my kids were fortunate enough to receive. While my kids get three meals a day, some children in this world barely get by the day with just one meal. It is truly sad and I want to help make a change in my community. Did you know that 16 million kids live in poverty? That statistic is unbelievably sad and we need to get rid of it.#SIMPLEgiving

For kids in need, finding nutritious snacks can be a challenge. Children who eat healthy foods are better equipped to succeed academically, and that’s why ensuring all kids have access to nutritious snacks is so important. This rung very true for me seeing one of my good girlfriends lose everything in a divorce and I had to see her struggle with getting enough money to get simple items such as food. It was so disheartening to see at the time and we did everything in our power to make sure, those kids were fed. While her family is doing great right now, there are a lot of families that are having a hard time making ends meet and putting food on the table or snacks in their kids lunch boxes.

SIMPLE Giving is a Champions for Kids program that makes it simple for you to help kids in your community. To ensure children have access to nutritious snacks, Champions for Kids is teaming up with Dole, Emerald, Kellogg Company and Walmart for a SIMPLE Giving program. It is extremely easy to participate by simply purchasing and donating snack food items at your local participating Walmart from August 1-18. If your Walmart store is participating, simply purchase breakfast foods and place them in the purple donation bins at the front of the store after checkout. To see a list of participating stores, click here. If your local Walmart is not participating, consider doing this project and helping a family in need. There is truly nothing more rewarding then helping out those who are less fortunate than you!

Hayley and I went to our local Walmart and bought many items including Kellogg’s Cheerios, Dole Fruit Cups, snack bars, and more. We went through the aisles and added food items to our cart. When we were done, we checked out and headed to the front of our local Walmart store. There we made our donation in the purple bin, which will be sent to families in need. It was so rewarding not only for myself, but seeing my 5 year old take such a stand and wanting to help out. It is more important than anything to teach my kids the impact of giving back to those who might not have what they do. It was a great day!#SIMPLEgiving

Thank you for posting this! I have been trying to find volunteer oportunities for my 4 and 6 year old but it’s difficult because there aren’t many out there for the younger kids. This is perfect! Hoping our local Walmart is participating! Thanks again!

This is a great initiative! Kids in need are more likely to get into trouble and less likely to be everything that they can be.

Too often, kids in need become high risk kids. That’s unacceptable in what is supposed to be the greatest country in the world. I love this project, because it helps promote child development and empowerment through abolishing hunger. Great!

This is so great. Hunger seems terrible on its own, but what people don’t realize is that hunger is more than discomfort. It often entails malnourishment, decreased cognitive function, and psychiatric changes. Children going hungry in what is supposed to be the greatest country in the world, is just unacceptable.

A great way to teach our kids how to help and reach out to others. I will check our store here and see if my kids can do the same.
