The Awesome Duane Reade App for the iPhone #DRApp #cbias

I grew up in New Jersey, about 45 minutes from New York City. New York is a place I treasure as a second home. My sister loved NYC so much that she has been living there since 21 years old and now is living her dream of being a singer in the city.

While it is indeed expensive to live the NY life, one store that my sister swears by is Duane Reade. Not only are Duane Reades all over NYC and other areas, my sister actually lives on the high rise on top of a Duane Reade store. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times she goes shopping there each week. I might even guess that she goes in to the store at least once a day. I have become so acquainted with Duane Reade from my NYC trips to visit her, that I also can not go a day in NYC without visiting one.

Duane Reade has everything you can imagine in their store from groceries..to pharmacy items..to personal items! The list can go on and on! The store is always stocked with essentials you need, as well as fun items, to make living in NYC exciting and fun. While Duane Reade is awesome, now they have made it even that much more incredible by making a Duane Reade iPhone App. It allows you to explore various facets of the store on your phone, find the best deals, and so much more from the app.

I know you are so excited to hear more but before I begin, I need to tell you all that the Duane Reade App is totally free so be sure to download it today on iTunes or directly from your iPhone. It will make shopping that much easier, which is what all of us could use in our lives-right?

Now on to tell you all about the fun aspects of the app. After you download the app, you will see it has many sections to make life much more simplified for any Duane Reade shopper. The main section of the app includes a pharmacy icon, photo icon, refill by scanner, rewards program, store locator, and scanner.

I was able to test out each section of the app when I was doing my Duane Reade shopping. My first part of the app I used was the store locator. I visited New York two weekends ago and was on the upper east side. I did a quick search with the store locator to search out what stores were near where I was going to be. It gave me a list of the stores in my vicinity and gave me a map, to make traveling to the stores, that much easier. You can also click on the location of the stores, and you can find out various store information such as hours of operation, phone number/address, pharmacy hours, and various services offered in the store.

The next features I was a big fan of was the pharmacy section. You are able to refill from your individual account, refill by scan, refill for family members, or transfer the prescriptions. You can also check the status order of your prescription and get text alerts to notify you when it is ready. This app is also the same app used at Walgreens, so I know just how invaluable ordering prescriptions online using this app is. It makes getting your medicines incredibly easy.

You can also use the app to refill prescriptions by scanning your current medicine bottles to get refills at Duane Reade. It has a barcode on the app that you place over your prescription, to readily send refills to the pharmacy. I tested it out with my current medicines and it worked wonderfully.

There is also a great photo section on the app where you can order pictures from your phone or facebook for Duane Reade to print out, without every having to bring any film in. I have used this before to create a photo collage and it is great. I have so many facebook photos and I can simply print them out at Duane Reade with this app. I can also do photo cards via the section of the app too! Pretty neat in my opinion!

 

When I was at Duane Reade, I went around scanning items using the app to give me price checks, if I could not easily find the price in the store. Sometimes, I get confused when things are on sale and want to find out the actual price. The scanner was great to use and gave me the price on every item I wanted to know about.

Lastly, one of my favorite parts of the app is the Reward Program. It you do not know what the Balance Rewards is, it is a free program that gives you extra savings on items bought in the store, as well as earning points for items bought on your shopping trips to Duane Reade. The Rewards Program is the same as the one at Walgreens, so if you earn points at Walgreens, it could be used at Duane Reade, and visa versa.

At check out, they simply scan your card, which will be electronically seen and scanned via the app. It is so easy to do and the savings are incredible. I saved $20 just on my last shopping trip to Duane Reade!
