Perplexus toy review and giveaway!!

Everyone by now should have heard of Perplexus and if not, you should get on board. It was one of the top contenders for educational toy of the year 2012! I  am very  happy that they sent me Perplexus rookie to review as I have heard so many great things about Perplexus from my friends and family. There are three types of Perplexus toys- the Perplexus Rookie for ages 4 and up, the Epic Perplexus and the Original Perplexus, for ages 6 and up! We were sent the Perplexus rookie due to Hayley’s age.

PERPLEXUS is a maze game where players maneuver a small marble around challenging barriers inside a transparent sphere. Unlike traditional flat-surface mazes that are composed of one path, PERPLEXUS houses various challenging tracks with 100 barriers providing a frustrating three-dimensional experience. Players select the track they would like to attempt and must work with gravity to carefully shift, flip, and twist the sphere to guide the marble. Players can race each other or the clock. (taken from the Perplexus website)

The concept of any of these Perplexus educational toys is very easy. Simply, take the globe shape game out of the box and start rolling the ball to the starting point. You then flip, twist, and spin the Perplexus to move the ball along the numbered paths.  In the Perplexus Rookie, there is 70 challenging barriers along the way, while in the Original Perplexus, there is 100 barriers. When you fall off the track, you simply start over.  If you make it to the end, congratulate yourself and invite your friends to join you. See who can complete it in the fastest time.

My thoughts: This game is ADDICTIVE!! Hayley started getting the concept of the game, however, she would get frustrated and put it down.  I think this has to do with her only being 3 and truly not fully understanding the game yet. I am confident in a few months, she will be a pro at it.  However, my husband and I LOVE it, as well as all my nephews. Each of my nephews received them for Christmas and they all play one another to see who would win. It is so cute that they love this toy so much!  I love the fact that it truly is the definition of an educational toy. It assists in childrens development by exercising their motor and dexterity skills. It is great for eye- hand coordination and is portable everywhere due to its size. When we get together with our nephews, one of them always brings the perplexus. As for us, I love to play the game, as does my husband. Yes, I admit it- I love a kids toy that is meant for a 4 year old! It is so fun being able to get to the end of the maze and then challenging my husband.

I'd like the Rookie. Sawyer is still a little too young even for it, but it will make a good gift one day! :)

I think I would go with Epic even though I have never tried the game before. More of a challenge.
