Summer is still another 6 weeks along and some of my favorite things to do in the summer is going for long walks on the beach with some good sneakers and shoe inserts. This year it has been much harder because I had knee surgery but I am doing 1/2 mile walks to try to gain strength. Walking is one of the easiest form of exercises and it is great to do yourself or with friends. If walking is not your thing, these are some other exercises I like to do in the summer months.
Another form of exercise which is really great for you is cycling. Cycling is a low-impact exercise that improves cardiovascular fitness while strengthening the legs and lower body. It is gentle on the joints making it a great exercise from those recovering from injuries or looking for an alternative to walking/running.
Hiking is also another great form of outdoor exercise. It is an adventure to do with family. Walking on uneven terrain challenges your muscles, improves balance, and enhances endurance. I also find spending time with nature helps so much with stress. Just taking in nature makes things so calm and peaceful.
If you are up for it, it is also fun to grab a jump rope to get a simple, but highly effective body workout. It improves coordination, burns calories quickly, and strengthens the heart and muscles. It requires just a jump rope and can be done anywhere.
Lastly, bodyweight training is a great form of outdoor exercise. Outdoor spaces such as parks are perfect for bodyweight exercises like push-ups, squats, lunges, planks, pull-ups, and dips. They help build strength and improve flexibility.
If you have access to a beach or a pool, swimming is perfect for health and wellness. It is a form of great outdoor exercise that is gentle on your joints. Combine that after with outdoor yoga and you have a great outdoor day ahead of you.
Hope you try some of these great outdoor exercises today!
