It is finally summer in RI! A lot of us wait all year for summer to arrive and it is finally here!! Rhode Island is a great place to enjoy outdoor activities during the summer. Even though it is the smallest state in the United States, it offers many opportunities for fun, exercise, and relaxation. One of the best ways to spend a summer day in Rhode Island is by combining basketball with other outdoor adventures. Basketball is hot right now especially with the NBA finals (go Knicks) and having good basketball insoles will get you on the court in no time at all!
Basketball is a popular summer activity because it allows people to stay active while spending time with friends and family. Many parks and recreation centers throughout Rhode Island have outdoor basketball courts where people of all ages can play. Whether it is a casual game with friends or a local tournament, basketball provides exercise, teamwork, and entertainment during the warm months.
In addition to basketball, Rhode Island is known for its beautiful beaches. Places such as Narragansett Beach and Misquamicut State Beach attract visitors who enjoy swimming, sunbathing, and beach volleyball. After playing basketball in the morning, many people head to the beach to cool off and enjoy the ocean breeze. Be sure to get the RI State Beach Parking Pass so you will have no trouble parking, even later in the day.
Hiking is another excellent summer activity. Trails at locations like Lincoln Woods and Arcadia Management Area allow visitors to explore nature, observe wildlife, and enjoy scenic views. Biking along the East Bay Bike Path is also a popular choice, offering miles of coastline and picturesque landscapes. The bike paths are so clear and easy to use. It is simply a no brainer activity to do in the summer.
For those who enjoy being on the water, kayaking and paddleboarding are exciting options. Rhode Island’s bays, rivers, and ponds provide perfect locations for these activities. Families can also enjoy picnics in local parks, fishing along the shore, or attending outdoor festivals and concerts throughout the summer season. One of my favorite venues is the Charlestown seafood festival! Also the Xfinity Center is a wonderful way to take in a concert!
Overall, Rhode Island offers a wide variety of outdoor activities that make summer enjoyable. By combining basketball with beach trips, hiking, biking, and water sports, residents and visitors can stay active while experiencing the natural beauty and vibrant atmosphere of the Ocean State.
