Crazy how we are in 2026 already?! Where has the time gone by? This year, I am not making resolutions but rather more commitments to myself. I have some of the same goals this year : working out, eating healthy, and making time to carve out for mental and physical stability. I am already on my way by ordering some good sneakers with plantar fascitis inserts, going to Planet Fitness a few times a week, and playing tennis with friends.
However, more than my physical health, it is a goal to make myself mentally happy as well. I live a very busy life with 3 kids, 2 jobs, a husband, friends, running a tennis league, running a book club, and much more. It can become very overwhelming at times for myself. To keep myself sane, my new word of the year is NO! You are asking what I mean I am sure. I try to appease so many people and say yes I can do this…yes I can do that when I really don’t have the time to do it. So this year I am going to take myself much more into account and say the YESes to the things I want to say the YESes to and will not feel bad about saying the NOes.
This also relates to friendship. I have some of the greatest friends and feel very blessed with this. However, as I am getting older I am realizing there are people who are truly there for you and others who are might appear to be there for you, but truly are not. I am not going to write off these people but rather put them in my ‘box” where I know who they are and what the friendships are. I am going to devote my time and energy on reciprocal friendships and I am truly grateful I have these in my life. I truly feel blessed.
So my word of the year is NO, what is yours?
