Sodastream Review and Giveaway!! Do you love soda or seltzer/flavored seltzer?

I am beyond excited to be able to present one of my readers their very own SodaStream.  When we first received the SodaStream,  I had friends over the house and made each of them their own flavor of soda or sparkling water. My friends were so impressed that 2 of them went out and purchased their own.  I use my SodaStream daily!  It is simply AMAZING!! So, what is a SodaStream, you might be asking?

SodaStream in a home soda maker. You simply turn your tap water into sparkling water or add in the extra flavor, to make actual soda. Here are my easy steps to using the SodaStream:



 Fill the reusable carbonating bottle with tap water. 




 Secure the reusable bottle into the soda maker.



 Press the button down two times to add the fizz to the water.



Now you have regular sparkling water. You can drink it like this or add the flavoring syrup to make flavored seltzer. To make soda:

Follow the above steps and add your favorite soda mix. You measure one cap of the carbonating mix and pour the cap into the bottle.



Shake the bottle a few times. 



Your soda is all ready to go!! 

It really takes me all of 2 minutes to make soda. I typically will make a full bottle of soda and keep it in the refrigerator for a few days. Not only do they offer flavors to be added for sparkling water, but the vast array of soda is truly amazing. They have virtually every flavor of soda you can find in your local store plus more. My favorites so far include diet cola, cranberry-raspberry, black pear currant, and root beer. They have regular and diet flavors included in their 30 different selections. 

The best part is the soda contains less calories than the regular sodas, talking in terms of non-diet soda. Regular Coke usually has 100 calories/27 grams per 8 oz., while Sodastream Coke contains 34 calories/ 9 grams of sugar per 8 oz. Sodastream regular soda contains no high fructose corn syrup and the diet soda is made with splenda instead of aspartame.  You might ask after hearing this, is the taste still good?  I can assure you that it tastes THE SAME!! I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference in a taste test. 


The other great thing I love about Sodastream is how I can do good by the environment. I am a big sparkling water person and would go out and buy plastic bottles all the time.  Not only does the cost add up week after week but the plastic bottles, if not recycled, is very bad for the environment. Using a Sodastream means less packaging waste from cans and bottles as well as less pollution caused by the transport of bottle beverages. One Sodastream carbonator makes 60-110 liters, equivalent to 310 aluminum cans.  Imagine what this would do for the environment by using a Sodastream. 

In the two months since we owned the Sodastream, I have brought 0 bottles/cans of sparkling water/soda. It really makes a difference over time, how much you can save!!

    I stopped drinking pop a long time ago due to the HFCS. But I do miss a good cola. And I love lemon-lime flavors. My kids would go crazy for root beer!

    We have one of these and love it. I'm a bit of a diet soda junkie, but I use half of the recommended syrup and it's not as bad as if I drank a regular diet soda – and I really don't notice any less flavor.
