Eating better is my New Year’s goal. To be honest, it’s almost always my New Year’s goal. And that’s mainly because I never really stick to it. Oh, I’m good at getting in my running and my water. Whatever you’re trying to change about yourself, the first step to getting it done is knowing your weak spots and then addressing them. That goes for everything, but it’s especially true for snacking. Snacking is the downfall of anyone trying to eat better, so it stands to reason that if we know our weak spots in that area, we can better combat those bad habits.

The first thing I did was take the POPSUGAR Snack ID Quiz. Using this quiz I was able to learn what kind of snacker I am and how I can improve my habits. I’m glad I did. I didn’t realize it, but I’m a “Mindless Muncher”, which means I just chow down without even thinking about it. It makes a ton of sense, considering my job as a blogger and a dentist. I’m always on the go or at the computer working, and I constantly nibble on whatever is around. For a snacker like me, the key is to stop – just for a minute – and really focus on what I’m eating. That helps me realize I’m full and stop perpetually snacking.
