Help Kids Smile Today #SpinbrushCFK #Cbias

While I love writing about various topics and wonderful companies on my blog, one of my favorite posts to write is one where I am helping children. Nothing gives me greater joy than participating in the wonderful Champions for Kids Simple Projects by donating and providing resources to help children in need. Previously I have donated Post Cereal, Elmer’s school supplies, and sporting equipment to try to make a difference in childrens’ lives. While I LOVE each Simple Project I partake in, the Simple Project for July personally and professionally effects me. The Champions for Kids Simple Service Project is to help kids achieve better oral health and readily allow them to have access to dental supplies that they might not be able to afford.

Before I begin telling how we partaked in this wonderful Simple Project to help kids with their necessary dental needs, I thought I would give a little background about myself.

I graduated Penn Dental School in 2003. My dream to become a dentist started when I was in High School and working as an assistant in a family practice. We saw so many unfortunate circumstances where teeth needed to be extracted because the parents didn’t have the means to provide their children with proper dental support. I remember seeing a child who came in with so much pain because of a massive abscess that the mom didn’t even know about. It broke my heart so much that I decided that I wanted to join in the crusade in helping to spread the word of  how important dental education is. I remember telling my mom that I wanted to be a dentist and at that time, we found a 7 year program that was affiliated with my college which allowed one, deeming they had the grades, to matriculate to dental school. I was very fortunate to get into this program and be able to help out children through my many years being a dentist. It is truly a rewarding job and I am so glad I can help in educating parents and children about dental care.

Thankfully, Champions for Kids realized that dental care is extremely important and teamed up with Arm & Hammer to start a campaign to encourage people to try provide dental supplies for children in need. It is actually quite simple to do and I encourage you all to go out and participate in this campaign. Trust me, nothing will bring a greater joy to your heart!

*Gather your family, friends, and co-workers to provide toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other dental care items for children in your community! Give the dental care items that you collected to an organization in your community that serves children (like a school, religious organization, or nonprofit) so that kids in your community can celebrate with healthy smiles and happier lives! Click here to send us your great Report and Photos!*

For my project, I headed to Walmart to purchase Arm & Hammer Spinbrushes. The goal is to buy one for yourself and donate two. However, I saw so many great Arm & Hammer Spinbrushes, I ended buying a few extra for my donation. They really have the greatest kids Spinbrushes and I am so excited that I got introduced to them. We ended up donating to a dental office in the area. More to come on this later on this month so you will want to stay tuned.

Arm & Hammer Spinbrushes

These Arm & Hammer Spinbrushes retail for $5.72 at my local Walmart and with this coupon you will receive $2.00 any Spinbrush! For a mere $3.72, you can help make a difference in a child’s life! Think about it and come join in our crusade to help spread dental resources to children in need!

When we were done, we ended up going to check out and bring the Arm & Hammer Spinbrushes home. I will tell you that I get A LOT of dental products at home for my office and I readily donate each month to shelters in my area. I will be adding my supplies with the Arm & Hammer toothbrushes to complete my Simple Project of helping children succeed in getting a smile again!

Hayley of course needed to get a jump start in opening her Arm & Hammer My Way SpinBrush. She loved decorating her toothbrush that had over 141 stickers.

Now, I am going to be back in a few weeks talking about my actual donation. It was so much fun to donate to this important campaign to help children with good oral hygiene so stay tuned…

I didn’t realize you work in a non-private situation. You bring so much hope to people in your community who have no where else to turn. Thank you for giving of your time and energy and for that amazing donation of dental products to your community.

I would love to be able to send all the children that we are feeding this summer to school with brand new toothbrushes.

My niece has that Spinbrush, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever! How wonderful of you to donate your time and knowledge to such a great cause! Can’t wait to hear what you have in store!

I knew you were a dentist but I had no idea you helped the ones who cannot afford proper dental care. Very inspiring, thanks for sharing a little more about yourself.

Its so great to teach kids at a young age to brush their teeth. I want to also say thank you for helping kids get the proper dental care, most people who dont go its because they cant afford it. Keep up the great work!!!

That’s so great you help kids that’s parents can’t afford dentists. That is so nice of you- very inspirational!!

I think it is awesome what you are doing! I read a news article a year or so ago about a child who DIED from a tooth infection because his parents were so poor. Such a tragedy, and thanks for helping those who can’t help themselves right now!

My kids have these and love them :O) my mother in law doesn’t understand why nice teeth are so important. I’m making sure they start right!

What a great cause and it sounds like you have your dream job. It is so easy to donate much-needed supplies to those who really need it. We often go to the Dollar Store and buy a carload of stuff for local charities. The Dollar Store near us sells the Aquafresh Junior toothbrush (with flavored toothpaste) for $1 while I see the same thing at Walgreens for $6. It’s awesome to know I can help more kids by shopping at the Dollar Store! I don’t mean to turn this comment into a Dollar Store promo (ha!), I just get excited about helping others and stretching my donation dollars to help even more people is pretty exciting.

Great idea! I am always looking for new service projects for my Girl Guides. Collecting dental health items for food banks (some give more than food) or homeless shelters would be a good idea.

I got the my way spinbrushes for my kids for Christmas, they loved decorating them!

I am very impressed on what you do for needy kids. I had no idea. It would be nice if this is done in every state. If it is people don’t know about it. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Eric! You can ask my parents all about it next time you see them. Nice seeing you on here.

Oh boy, work photo! We started using spin brushes quite a few years ago now. I noticed a big difference in my children’s teeth. They were so much more cleaner. Crest does have the best one on the market, too.

Awesome story! Proper dental care is out of reach for so many people – young and old! So glad to hear from a dentist who cares about more than making tons of cash!
