I love dressing my kids in cute clothes. I talk about this all the time on my blog and when I find out about a new kids clothes store, I feel obligated to tell my readers about it. My newest obsession is Matilda Jane Clothing (MJC).
Matilda Jane sells some of the most adorable clothing and is truly unlike most other clothing sites online. Their slogan is “an unpredictable clothing company” and I truly feels this slogan is what makes Matilda Jane clothing beautiful. As a mom of 3 year old Hayley, I would love her to wear clothes that are fun, frilly, and age appropriate. When I go through the Matilda Jane catalog online, I find each piece is personally made to let girls have fun in their dressing styles. Each piece is made of beautiful, and extremely well made fabrics. They currently offer clothes in sizes 6 months and up, with their highlight being on girls clothes. They do offer some boys pieces as well to their extensive repertoire.
I love the story behind Matilda Jane. Denise DeMarchis, CEO and founder of Matilda Jane, had an idea to make clothing. She knew there are so many clothing options available online, but she wanted to make her line unique and special. The end result is the Matilda Jane clothing line which has unbelievable success and has made the rounds with moms in this world, looking for cute clothes. Denise still to this day does not consider herself a “designer” but rather a “girl who can’t stop her brain from spinning.”
For the review part, we got to sample the Lucky Star Knot Dress with the matching headband. To say this dress is too cute for words, is an understatement. The first time my daughter wore this dress to school, her teachers raved that it was their favorite dress they have seen on my daughter. The parents of her little friends, also stopped me , asking where I got her this dress. Besides the fact that it is simply adorable, it is fun! Hayley loves to twirl around in her dress and look in the mirror, to see how pretty the dress is.
While I love this company already, my love is exemplified by the fact that they help out the important organization, Habitat of Humanity. They contribute to the company’s strong focus on “extreme generosity” and random acts of kindness. As an extension of MJC’s desire to give back (such as to various children’s charities and orphanages, or the company’s pledge with Habitat for Humanity to build a home for a deserving family), the company also actively involves its customers in ongoing charitable giving efforts – most recently, MJC asked customers where to donate in its “Spread the Love” initiative. The annual campaign involved surprise giveaways to 100+ deserving families, as well as smaller giveaways to 300 individuals, a $50,000 expression of MJC’s heartfelt thanks to its loyal customer base. How truly wonderful is that!
Despite MJC’s strong online presence – more than 40,000 Facebook fans, a thriving blog, and a website that attracts more than 70,000 unique visitors monthly, the company has bucked the trend and chosen not to have an e-commerce store. MJC sales are made directly though a Trunk Keeper, a representative who gets to know her customers personally. The exclusive sale of clothing by Trunk Keepers is a wonderful direct selling model through which Denise is able to pay forward business opportunities for entrepreneurial women driven by creativity and relationship building.
I am in love with Matilda Jane clothing! I most certainly will be ordering pieces from their store again. Their online store is now bookmarked and I plan to visit frequently.
