2. The Swiss Cheese Theory of Life:
The Swiss Cheese Theory of Life by Judith Belmont and Lora Shor is an adorable book to help you with life. In their new book, they use Swiss Cheese as a metaphor for life itself by exploring ways to get through life’s hold without actually getting stuck in them. Just like Swiss cheese is different that other cheeses, so are you different from others.
Each chapter in the book uses cheese to help out with some area in your life. For example, the first chapter is called, “Fondue can never turn back into a block of cheese.” Just below that , you will see what the chapter will be about, which in this case, is the talk of giving up the habit.. of regret. This particular chapter delves into being able to forgive yourself of falling short of expectations, forgiving yourself of not knowing what you know now, forgiving yourself for poorly chosen words or actions, and forgiving yourself for making decisions out of fear. It also talks about the regrets that most people think about in life- regrets over what you studied, regrets on relationships, and such. All of this is discussed in the first chapter which is truly remarkable.
As the chapter go on, it gives you suggestions and advice on how to dig yourself out of those unhealthy patterns and habits you created as well as helping oneself to make healthy changes in your life. It incorporates tips and insights in a handy book for helping with your emotions and trying to fulfill those life-goals that you have made for yourself.
I absolutely loved this book. I know for me, I always wonder if something bad happens, “Why did this happen to me?” This book helped me to see into my life one step at a time. It helps to see that what happens in your past is just that- your past! There is a whole future to think about and to remain positive. The authors do it in a way to make you feel great about ourselves. We can all use some of positive reaffirmation in our lives. I also love that she has some of the cutest cartoons and quotes that are found throughout the book. The book also contains stories from real people. After each story, you will see suggestions on how to deal with the problems that the stories contained.
